It is in the secret of the cellars that an extraordinary dream comes of age. The Bouvet-Ladubay cellars hold the revered treasures of an incredible piece of art. They are womb to a beautiful promise. These cellars lie in the centre of Saumur, close to the century-old reputed vineyards. The story dates back to over 1000 years, when the Monks of Saint Florent were expelled from the first dungeon, they settled down in the pristine rolling hills of the valley, overlooking the Thouet river. Here, they excavated the first galleries used to build the consecrated abbey of La belle d' Anjou.
Today, the cellars of that very thousand-year-old Abbey treasure seven million bottles of Bouvet-Ladubay's fabulous wines ensconced within the five mile long underground cellars. |
